b"S.A.L.T.Y. Memories MadeF or the past five years the Fishing Clubs charitable affiliate, the Palm Beach County Fishing Foundation, has headed to the water to help cultivate the next generation of knowledgeable and responsible young anglers. The S.A.L.T.Y. Youth Fishing Program is produced in memory of former WPBFC Board member Don A. Hap Wilson who shared the clubs passion for teaching kids to fish. The S.A.L.T.Y. program continues to be a fun and successful event, strengthening the bond between the kids involved and their parent/chaperone, and further connecting local youth to the incredible saltwater resources Palm Beach County has to offer. The two-day program includes hands-on rigging instruction at the historic West Palm Beach Fishing Club on a Friday evening in preparation of fishing the next morning. With the assistance of helpful volunteers, the kids learn how to tie useful fishing knots, how to rig a sardine, how to tie a guppy rig, and how to spool up their new PENN Fishing combo, which they receive as part of the program! The following morning, they put their new skills and rigs to the test.Plenty of fish are caught on these trips and a lot of memories are made while on the water fishing aboard the Miss Blue Heron out of Palm Beach Inlet.A big thanks goes out to our volunteers who help us teach and inspire the S.A.L.T.Y. kids. And of course, a special thanks to community partners like the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County for helping us make this youth fishing program possible. Theres something special about connecting kids to the water! Next S.A.L.T.Y.
