(must be weighed on land or suitable stable surface) (standings as of 2/25/14) Club member Chris Walsh of Jupiter had a memorable day in Islamorada with Capt. Jared Raskob last October. Walsh nearly recorded a coveted double flats slam.  Soon after fooling a bone- fish with a well cast fly, Walsh spotted another bone nearby and just couldn’t resist the urge to throw a live shrimp at the second fish…while still hooked up to the first! The second fish pounced on the offering. Walsh simultaneously played and miraculously landed both fish, albeit somewhat of a Chinese fire drill. “Both were over ten pounds and rest assured their slime coats were in tact as they swam away strong lest anyone wonder,” said Walsh. Two nice permit and a small tarpon rounded out the fantastic flats fishing trip. “I got the baby tarpon deep in a mangrove hole with just ten minutes to spare before our self imposed 3pm cutoff. What a fun day!” Walsh Has Banner Day in Islamorada member angling news Annual Award Standings Hand scales are a convenient way to get accurate weights on fish you intend to enter in club contests. Be sure your scale is certified yearly. Hand scales can be certified at the WPBFC clubhouse or at lo- cal tackle shops including Fishing Headquarters in Jupiter, Lott Bros. in North Palm Beach and Tuppen's in Lake Worth. Is Your Hand Scale Certified? Lang Scores Super Slam! Club member John Lang recently accomplished a feat very few anglers have ever done...he mananged to catch & release a bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook and mutton snapper all on fly tackle the same day. Great job, John!
