Sixteen individu- als have joined the club for life in the past year. Longtime club member Dominic D’Angelo of North Palm Beach is one of them. Domi- nic is a very active angler and diver who has participated in many club outings through the years. Gary York, who has been a club member for over 20 years, signed his daugh- ter, Maggie Fisher, up for life last spring. “I made my daughter a lifetime member of the Fishing Club to serve as a reminder of what she and I have built in our Fa- ther-Daughter relationship. From teaching Maggie’s five year old to cast, to the many days in the Gulf Stream catching dolphin. A ll the boats I’ve built and my Contender have all been named MAG E. Maggie and I have celebrated each Christmas and Thanksgiving fishing together. If ever a kid deserved to be made a lifetime member it’s her for what she has endured,” joked York. Bill Bohnett of Jupiter Island has joined for life. He’s very active in several environmental organizations and is a member of the Smithsonian National Board. Bill is very support- ive of the fishing club’s conservation initiatives. Club member Mike Iv- ancevic of Jupiter became a lifetime member last summer. ”I’ve been wanting to do this for about the past three years. I’m never NOT going to be a member of the Fishing Club, plus I want to get more active, so I figured this was a good time to join for life,” said Ivancevic who is a regular in club tournaments like the Silver Sailfish Derby and the Palm Beach County KDW Classic. Byron and Laura Russell have joined the club for life. Both are extremely active in the community and are accomplished bluewater anglers. Byron’s company, Cheney Brothers, has been a major sponsor of the club’s KDW Classic since it’s inception. David Bulthuis from New Smyrna Beach is now a lifetime WPBFC member. David works for Costa Sunglasses and has been support- ive of club programs and events for nearly 20 years. For a time he held the tournament record dolphin in the club’s annual KDW Clas- sic. Tony Cummings of Palm Beach, another Derby regular and longtime club member, joined for life during this year's tournament too. Michael Bubis has been a club member for nearly 20 years and decided to up his support this year by joining for life. Like Bubis, WPBFC Board member Bob Broadway of West Palm Beach anted up and joined for life after being a club member for 26 years. “I’ve set a personal goal of getting the club ten new lifetime members. EMT Austin Mottinger of North Palm Beach has joined for life and has become a regular at club meetings. He’s always looking for fishing partners, which was one of his reasons for joining.
