Over the past year new outfits have been donated to the Well’s Recreation Center in Riviera Beach, Cub Scout Pack 774 at Lighthouse Elementary School, the Village of North Palm Beach Recreation Center, Bright Futures Academy and the Jupiter Pointe youth paddling program. The PBCFF Rods & Reels for Kids program was established in 2001 to fill a community need by supplying tackle to area youth groups that are helping introduce young people to the joys of fishing and fostering environmental stewards for the fu- ture. Many of the groups receiving tackle do not have the financial resources to provide tackle to their kids. The Rods & Reels for Kids program is dedicated in memory of former WPBFC board member Jim Ewing who had the vision and passion to help kids get the equipment they needed to go fishing. GulpSW_3.75x5.indd 1 2/8/11 2:39 PM LagoonFest Kudos Fishing Club members participated in the first ever La- goonFest hosted by the Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management (ERM) along the Flagler Drive waterfront late last year. Over 1,000 attendees enjoyed environmental displays designed to increase aware- ness about the L a ke Wor th Lagoon. The Fishing Club booth featured an educational knot tying and casting sta- tion for kids that was a hit with attending families. “We couldn’t pull our 8 year old away and he casted for the better part of an hour. He was in heaven, mostly because of the attention. Those Fishing Club guys were the absolute best. They definitely made one little boy’s day,” said participant Joyce Moody. Special thanks to members: Bob Pascale, George Patane, Barbara Ryan, Henry Inserra, Max Lichtig, Danny Kleisley and Willie Howard for their volunteer support. The next LagoonFest is set for November 14, 2015.
