21TightLinesBulletin-2012AYearInReviewcluboutingsAGoodDayInTheSoundAgroupofabouttwentyboatsfromtheFishingClubgatheredonFebruary18ththisyearforourannualexpeditiontoHobeSound.Preparationsforanycluboutingstartsmonthsinadvance.Planningincludesselectionofthedayslookingatthemoonphaseandtryingtondafavorabletide.Additionalconsiderationsincludewheretomeetaftertheshingdayconcludesandmakingreservationsforthemeetingfacilityandthatisjustthebeginning.ThenthereisthefoodweallknowthattheWPBFCcannothaveanoutingwithoutapotluckthatbringsouttheculinarytalentsofclubmembersithasbeenrumoredthatsomeclubmembersparticipateinouroutingsjustforthefoodOnthewaytoouroutinglaunchingpointatBurtReynoldsParkinJupiterIwaslisten-ingtotheshingreportfromtheSnookNookinJensenBeach.Thehostsweretalkingaboutthepompanobiteithadnotmaterializedlikelyaresultofanunseasonablywarmwinter.Therewasalsotalkofcobiabecausetheshwouldlikelybeworkingtheirwaydownthecoastduetoanapproachingcoldfront.ButtheweatherforouroutingwasbeautifulChamberofCommerceweatherasitisoftencalled.LightwindsidealwaterandambienttemperatureswhatmorecouldweaskforManypastHobeSoundoutingshavebeenplaguedbyverycoldandwindyconditions.Butthatwasyearspastthisdaywasideal.IhavenoboatrampstoriesthisyearIusuallyhavesomecomicalincidentstoreportregardingtheactivitiesandadventuresIwitnesswhilecampedoutattheramp.Thisyearitwasallorderandefciency.Everyonewascourteousandhadtheirvesselsingoodrepairenginesstartedandoperatorsmovedtheirvesselsoutofthewaysothenextcrewcouldlaunch.TherewerelullsintheactivitybuteveryonewasongoodbehaviorafarcryfromthechaosIhaveseeninyearspast.ItwasagooddayfortheHobeSoundoutingandatdaysendsomeniceshwerereported.PeeWeeanglersBobbyandKaitlinWeigtwereintheSpanishmackerelwith12and3shrespectively.RyanBienemanhadagoodtimewithjacksandladysh.RyanSullivanhadfunwithjacksandlizardsh.KyleandEmmaPientkashowedwithpinsh.CaseyStaniszewskiwasourTopJuniorAn-glerlandinganassortmentofspeciesthatincludedbarracudasheepsheadandmangrovesnapperallcaughtonspinningandytackle.TheawardfortheMostLadyfshReleaseswenttoGeorgeFloydwhiletheLargestLadyfshAwardwenttoButchFarrellwitha3.5lb.sh.NewmemberAlexSullivantooktheLargestBluefshcategorywithanice8lb.sh.TheLargestTroutwasawardedtoGeorgeFloydpresentinga21.5inchshforthehonor.BestCatchonFlywenttoStevenGoethelwithaBarracuda.TherehadbeenreportsoflargeredshintheareaandtoproveitCaseyStaniszewskilittleCaseysdadhadan11lb.shwhichwonhimanOutstandingCatchaward.AsecondOutstandingCatchawardwaspresentedtoJayYoungfora4lb.snooklandedon4spintackletheLargestSnookAwardwenttoGregPientkawithanimpressive42inchsh.BestCatchon4lb.SpinwenttoclubChairmanPeteSchulzwholandedawidevarietyofgreatshonthelightline.OutstandingLadyAnglerwaspresentedtoSandyFarrellwithanassortmentofSoundspecies11differenttypesinall.Severalanglerswerehavingsomuchfuntheywerelatecomingintothepartyandmissedtheawardspresentationstheyreportedgreatshingaswell.Ofcoursethefoodwasgreatonceagainthisyear.SomeofthehighlightswereTracyBennettshomemadecupcakesJoellaspastasalad.BobandCathyWeigtspulledporkandbakedbeanswerethebestBobmakesagreatcontributiontothepotluckeveryyearwiththepulledporknowonderthisoutingissopopular.Therewerealsogreatcontributionsoffreshfruitpotatosaladstrawberrycompotechocolatechipcookiesandgumbo.Theconversationcamaraderieandshstorieswereoutstandingaswell.Thankyouallforyourparticipationandanothergreatoutingitisalwaysapleasuretobearoundfellowclubmembers.SpecialthankstoWPBFCboardmemberBobWeigtforhelpingmeorganizeanotherouting.ByBillBuendelWPBFCHobeSoundOutingCoordinator
