24WestPalmBeachFishingClubHobeSoundOuting2011ByBillBuendelWPBFCHobeSoundOutingCoordinatorThedaycouldnothavebeenanybetter.Theweatherwasfantasticthisyear.WhileatthedockIheardstoriesaboutthepastfewyearsespeciallylastyearwhenitwasreallycold.TypicallytheDrstweekendinFebruaryischosenforthisoutingbasedontidesseemslikethereisalwaysagoodincomingontheDrstweekend.Butthisyearwemovedtheoutingbacktwoweeks.Themoveprovedwellworththewaitfortheweatherandthetideswerestillgood.DuringtheoutingIstayatthedockandpavilionwhichalwaysprovessomewhatbeneD-cialandusuallyentertainingThisyearwasnodifferent.Therewerenosheriffdeputypatrolslookingforparkingviolationshoweverlawenforcementwasstillaround.TwoagentsfromUSFishWildlifeServicewerepresent.TheyshowedupwithreallynicetrucksandtwoShearwater22sthatweretheenvyofeveryoneattheboatramp.Thetwofriendlyagentswereassignedtotheregiontoenforcenowakezoneregulationsandconductamanateesurvey.Ascircumstanceswouldhaveitoneofourclubmembersnamewithheldwouldbetheluckyrecipientofaspeedingviolationgivenbyoneofthefriendlyagents.CoastGuardAuxiliaryvolunteerswerealsopresentdoingcourtesyboatinspections-Itmustbeax18pairx19thingasthereweretwoofthemtoo.Yesanothertwofriendlyindividualswhowerehappytotalk.WhatIfoundoutwastheyareonlylookingoutforoursafetyonthewater.Theyexplainedthatthedisrepairofboatsmotorsandtrailersandimpropersafetyequipmentareusuallyattherootofmostsafetyviolationsandofcoursealcoholconsumption.Theinspectionsasmostofyouknowarefreeandhelpful.Iwatchedastheytalkedtoboatersparlayinginformationregardingsafeboatingclassesbeingfriendlyyettactfulaskingoneboatertomovehisboatwhileheattemptedrepairs.Theoutingproceededwithoutincidentatthedocksandthroughthemorning.AsusualthemembersstartedDlteringbacktothepavilionaround230p.m.Thisyearx19sfoodprovedasalwaysthatWPBFCmembersdoenjoycookingandsharingwiththeirfellowmembers.SomeoftheoutingawardwinnersthisyearincludedTopLadyAnglerPhalaMurraywithreleasesofjacksand11ladyDshincludingonethatmeasured24inches.NancyDovaleearnedrunneruprecognitionforherGafftopsailcatDshrelease.TheLargestLadyfshawardwenttoMikeThomasfora3.25lb.ladyDsh.MikealsofollowedupwiththeBestCatchon4Spinwithtwopompanoupto3poundsandthebigladyDsh.MostLadyfshReleaseswenttoStuartPavlikwith20releaseson4spinusingaCoteejig.BestCatchonFlywenttoSteveDavisforreleasingtheonlysnookoftheouting.TheOutstandingCatchAwardwastakenbyPaulMurraywithmultiplejackson4spinusingDOACallures.HonorablementionsgotoBruceLyonforcatchingladyDshsandperchandbyhisowntrueconfessionx13afewcatDsh.TopJuniorAnglerwasEvanMcLeanforanoutstanding9.5lb.blueDsh6and4.5lbjackcrevallesallon4-poundspinTopPeeWeeAnglersincludedWilliamDavidAdamsforaporgyreleaseandSageDavisforcatchingbaitoutofthelivewellitx19sacatchAlsoofnoteTheGoebelfamilydachshundsomehowateaplugandgothookedinthetongueafterafewtensemomentsthedogwasx1creleasedx1dearningDr.TeresaGoebelanOutstandingReleaseaward.ThedogmadeafullrecoveryandwasseeneatingafewhotdogsduringtheoutingcookoutEventhoughIdonx19tDshtheoutingthiseventalwaysprovestobequiteentertain-ing.thankyoutoallforparticipatingthecamaraderieandsharingyourgreatDshstoriesPaulMurrayDanGoebelPhalaMurrayBillWilliamDavidAdamsStuartPavlik
