Fishing Club Outings

OutingThe West Palm Beach Fishing Club (WPBFC) plans multiple outings each year to a variety of popular fishing destinations. Everglades National Park, Boca Grande, Ocean Reef, Bimini and Grand Bahama Island are just some of the locations the club has visited. Participation in club outings is designed to promote family fishing, camaraderie, good spirited competition among fellow members and also to increase each participants ‘How To’ and ‘Where To’ angling knowledge. Each trip concludes with a group gathering highlighted by the presentation of various angling awards (often a big moment for our junior & pee wee anglers!) and a wonderful meal (usually featuring fresh fish!). Typically, the club is able to negotiate favorable group accommodation & dockage packages that also make the outings attractive to members. A reasonable outing participation fee applies to multi-day trips. These trips are organized for club members and their guests. You must be a WPBFC member in good standing to make outing room reservations. Informative outing flyers are distributed to the membership prior to each trip. Participation in club outings is one of the best ways to get to know your fellow members and fish in some fantastic places!

Hobe Sound Outing

Event Flyer (481 KB)

OutingEach February the WPBFC spends a day on the scenic inshore waters of Hobe Sound tangling with ladyfish, bluefish, pompano, snook & more. This family oriented outing provides a great opportunity to take advantage of some non-stop light tackle fun! The trip is perfect for anglers of all skill levels and is especially well suited for kids…the ladyfish are generally very cooperative! The outing concludes with a potluck style cookout and awards presentation. If you don’t have a boat, we encourage you to try to hook up with a fellow member at an upcoming club meeting or through outing coordinator, Bill Buendel.

Everglades National Park Outing

Through the years the WPBFC has made many excursions to Everglades National Park. These three to four daylong outings have been based out of different areas like Flamingo, Chokoloskee and Port-of the-Islands. They are always quite popular with club members and provide the perfect platform to explore and fish Florida Bay, the Everglades backcountry or the Ten Thousand Islands region. For the latest update on planned trips to the Everglades contact outing coordinator, Tracy Bennett.

Bahamas Outing

Fishing Club trips to the Bahamas always generate memorable and exciting fish stories… some have produced tales of world record tuna, big blue marlin and monster mutton snapper! These trips across the Gulf Stream are limited to those with boats at least 24’ in length. Past ports of call have included Bimini, Walker’s Cay and Grand Bahama Island. Logistically this is the club’s most involved outing to plan and produce. Club trips to the islands are generally five to seven days in length, although many members extend their visit and travel to or from other islands. Though we don’t go every year, this club outing generally takes place during the early part of the summer once kids are out of school. Traveling and fishing with the club flotilla also provides a higher comfort level for those who don’t like go on their own. For more details on the club’s next trip to the Bahamas contact outing coordinator Rick Ross.

Ft.Pierce Outing

Event Flyer (402 KB)

OutingYour West Palm Beach Fishing Club invites you to join us on our annual trek north to the Dockside Inn & Resort in Ft. Pierce. This wonderful facility, located on the south side of the Ft. Pierce Inlet, has all the amenities required for a club outing. Along with accommodations the site boasts plenty of dockage, two pools, onsite trailer storage, an onsite restaurant, great waterfront gathering & grilling areas, and a bait & tackle shop . Restaurants, shops and grocery stores are all within walking distance. The Dockside Inn continues to be a great summer getaway spot for a long family weekend. Once again, we’ve received an excellent room rate. The facility is ideal for both inshore and offshore anglers since it is conveniently located right on the inlet. The docks can accommodate boats up to 35’. This location is also great for club members without a boat as there are plenty of areas to fish from afoot. Club member Capt. Barry Brimacomb will serve as the outing coordinator. Members should make reservations directly with the Dockside at 800-286-1745.

Boca Grande Outing

Event Flyer (317 KB)

Beautiful Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor is usually the site of the Fishing Club’s final outing of the year, generally during the month of October when the redfish bite is best. Club members trailer their boats or charter local fishing guides on this outing. The inshore and near shore fishing in this region is hard to beat and anglers can expect to catch a wide variety of fish including reds, trout, pompano, Spanish mackerel and grouper. This club outing has a very laid back vibe…. the sites and scenery alone makes it worth the visit! Contact outing coordinator Dan Kleiser for additional details.
